Hello! Welcome or welcome back to The December Edit. I haven’t updated this blog in a very long time, but I am so excited to be back and writing again. The last time I posted was back in February 2019 and A LOT has happened since then. A career change, personal life changes, and a pandemic/wearing masks everywhere, OH MY!
I wanted to use this post to give a little update on what I’m doing and where life has taken me since you last heard from me. I’m currently chilling in my hotel room in Cincinnati, Ohio (pretty far from Texas, huh!!).
I left my retail job in March 2019 and became an Assistant General Manager of a hotel chain. After a year of trials and heartache, I got promoted to Task Force General Manager for the same management company in March 2020. Since then, I have been traveling all over Texas and Louisiana filling in and helping out the different hotels in our company. We recently acquired more hotels across the US and I am covering one of the new locations as the interim GM, until we can get one hired.
Other than massive changes in my career, a lot has happened in my personal life too. My best friend and her boyfriend moved in with me at the start of the pandemic (March 2020) and I love living with them. I, admittedly, am not around much due to my job, but they help me take care of my cats while I’m away and we have ‘family’ dinners together when I’m home. Although the pandemic has really made life difficult for everyone, I wouldn’t have traded getting to live with my best friend for the world.
I also began dating after taking a lot of time away from that part of my life (hello trust issues, lol). It hasn’t been the best, but it hasn’t been awful either. I am definitely learning a lot about myself and what I want for my future.
Pandemic aside, 2020 wasn’t completely awful. We definitely went through a lot of heartache and sadness last year with a death in the family, not being able to see our loved ones, and a variety of other things, but all we can do is keep looking and moving forward. 2021 is hopefully going to be a lot better for everyone.
What are some of your goals for 2021?
